Design/DevelopmentASI have manufactured and continue to manufacture quadrupole instruments for other mass spectrometry companies. These have taken the following different forms. 1. Complete instruments under private label. Usually a standard instrument that has been painted to customers colours, printed with customers name and logo, and customers name and logo on the software. 2. Kits of parts. Usually supplied as complete tested Analyser and main circuit boards uncased for customer to build into their own gas analysis system sometimes using their own interface and software. 3. Fully tested quadrupole Analysers for use with customers own electronics. 4. Joint projects on specials with companies and individuals. ASI are also able to offer a design facility for companies that are interested in manufacturing their own range of mass spectrometers. There are several further options that are now available. 5. Custom made instrument based on a completely new design to your specification. 6. Custom made instrument by adapting/modifying an existing instrument design. 7. Using one of our standard instruments designs with a private label. This may simply be cosmetic changes. To design a Q.M.S. from scratch requires a wide range of experience and knowledge. A good electronics design engineer that can design both analogue and digital electronics, a design engineer with knowledge of Ion optics and mechanical design to develop the analyser and a software engineer with a knowledge of interfacing to the outside world would be the minimum requirements. Finding one person with experience in all the disciplines required is unlikely and a team of at least 3 people each with their own field of expertise is normally required. It can then take 2 years or more before the first instrument is ready for the market place. There is then further ongoing development and improvement perfecting the instrumentation common with many new instrument designs. Most start up companies and also established companies grossly under estimate the time scale and cost of qms development. It is therefore not surprising that many companies in the past have abandoned the project or run out of funding before completion. Buying an established and tested RGA design therefore has many benefits:- Key Benefits
CapabilitiesASI has 40 years of accumulated knowledge and experience in the design of quadrupole and small magnetic sector mass spectrometers and systems.
